Companies, communities, and individuals are increasingly focused on contributing to the sustainable management and restoration of water resources. A large number of companies and organizations are setting water positive goals, vowing to return more water to the environment than they withdraw. Water reuse has become the essential tool in achieving water positivity, helping businesses achieve operational resilience and utilities better manage water resources. The panel will shed light on the water positivity movement, including the drivers, financial and policy challenges, and the key benefits that are making water positivity an imperative for many.

Ms. McCarthy has over twenty years of experience working internationally and specifically with the Middle East and North Africa region, more so in the GCC and specifically with Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority in water sustainability, research, and application of non-conventional water resource technologies. She has served the International Desalination and Reuse Association as First Vice President, Chair of the Foundation and Public Outreach Committee, member of the Operations Committee, member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, and champion for developing the IDRA Sustainable Water Resources Foundation establishment process.

Jason Morrison joined the Pacific Institute in 1993 and became its president in October 2016. As president, he oversees the Institute and its activities, focusing on broadening and amplifying the organization’s reach and impact. Additionally, Jason serves as the Head of the CEO Water Mandate, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact, and has supported the initiative since 2008 with applied research, event organization, and other services. He is also a co-founder of the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), a global initiative that has developed and is now implementing a freshwater certification program to advance responsible water practices.

Adrian has led AWS since 2011, ensuring that the International Water Stewardship Standard is recognised globally both for its credibility and its ability to inspire water users and managers to be responsible stewards of our freshwater resources. A development and sustainability professional, Adrian has extensive international experience ranging from Fairtrade International in Germany to grassroots NGOs in Nepal and Bangladesh.
