Room: Hollywood I, 7th Fl.
From Building Blocks to Policy: Developing Effective Water Reuse Regulations
Presentation Time: 01:30 PM - 03:00 PM
As a growing number of states look to add or expand water reuse and advance their associated regulations, they are looking for guidance and best practices for developing and implementing clear, appropriate, actionable rules. This workshop supports utilities, state agencies, and partners in strategies for developing clear, science-based, and health-protective regulations. It introduces strategies and tailored messaging for navigating the foundational “building blocks” such as health risk targets, treatment technologies, and source water characterization in the regulatory process.
Participants will:
• Gain tools and messaging strategies to support implementation in their local contexts.
• Explore real-world case studies and emerging trends in direct, indirect, and non-potable reuse.
• Engage in breakout sessions to co-create strategies for involving regulators, utilities, and communities.
The workshop is part of a collaborative project funded by the WateReuse Association, AMWA, AWWA, NACWA, and WEF to develop a State Reuse Regulatory Guide.
