Central Ohio Water Study Informs Planning and Role of Reuse
This presentation shares an integrated resources model for the 15-county Central Ohio region. The model captures historical/projected behavior and relationships between population, water demand, surface water, groundwater, reclaimed water, infrastructure capacity, land use, and climatic conditions to inform project development, industrial siting, and policy/funding. This model demonstrates the criticality of evaluating water resources and identifying reuse opportunities as part of an integrated system to ensure the long-term sustainability of population and economic growth.
Attendees will understand the state of Ohio’s drivers for conducting a regional (15 county) water study that captures relationships between different water supply types and water use applications in the near- and long-term planning horizons.
Attendees will gain insights into how an integrated water resources model can help identify opportunities for water reuse, including scalping facilities, industrial reuse, public access reuse, surface water augmentation, and groundwater augmentation.
Attendees will learn about the process of scenario planning and how it facilitates gap identification, project development, and project prioritization/sequencing.
